The organisers have kept the route through the city to maintain the essence of the race and connect it even more closely with the town. The Quarter Marathon kicks off at 9 am on Sunday and the Half Marathon at 10 am. The children&#8217;s and adapted races will be held on the Passeig Saturday afternoon. Registrations for the 2026 edition, which now total over 4,000 athletes (including the Saturday children&#8217;s races), are up 10% over last year and are beating registration records for the Sitges Half Marathon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The awards will be given in eight different categories: the top three ranked in the general male and female categories, the top three local male and female athletes, and the winners in wheelchairs (males and females) and visual disability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">To guarantee that the race is safe and goes smoothly, many streets in the centre of Sitges will be closed to traffic, and parking will not be allowed from early morning until the end of the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Signs are already posted to show the restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The mayor of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell Abella, stressed that \u2018the Sitges Half Marathon is much more than a race: it&#8217;s an event that confirms Sitges as a benchmark sports town capable of attracting thousands of athletes and their companions at a key time of the year\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The mayor also underscored the economic and social impact of the race, claiming that \u2018this record of more than 4,000 registered participants proves the success of a model that combines sport and high-quality organisation to generate activity, jobs and a bright outlook for the town as a whole\u2019. Finally, the mayor wanted to spotlight the educational side of the Half Marathon and its future by stating that \u2018the children&#8217;s races on Saturday are a clear way to foster the values of sport since childhood, because today not only are we seeing boys and girls racing; we\u2019re also seeing future runners who will continue to participate in this great event\u2019. The Councillor for Sport, Daniel Mart\u00ednez Berdala, added that \u2018we encourage people the participate and come to Sitges, because we&#8217;re an athletic town with a zeal for living and sport\u2019.
