Specifically, the <strong>Port of Sitges<\/strong> is teaming up with the <strong>Brotherhood of Fishers of Sitges<\/strong> and the <strong>Malvasia de Sitges Interpretation Centre (CIM)<\/strong> to once again organise the traditional procession of boats in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and a festive evening which will include burnt rum and <em>habaneras<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As it has done continuously since 1996, this year the Port of Sitges is holding an exciting day in honour of all seafarers and fishers on the occasion of the feast day of their patron saint, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. On Wednesday 16 July at 7 pm, a series of boats will leave the Port in a procession led by the boat of the Brotherhood of Fishers of Sitges, which will bear the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The procession will head westward to make a floral offering near the cemetery of Sitges as a symbol of devotion to Our Lady and to ask her to protect everyone working at sea.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After they return, the traditional singing of <em>habaneras<\/em> and drinking of burnt rum will complete a unique and fun evening in a peerless setting. This year, the\u00a0<strong>Grup Sons d\u2019Altamar<\/strong> will be performing the <em>habaneras<\/em>, and <strong>Pedro Castilla<\/strong> will be in charge of burning the <strong>Rom Pujol<\/strong> rum. Likewise, everyone who comes to the Port of Sitges can savour the taste of a seafood <em>fideu\u00e0<\/em> made by the fisher <strong>Oriol Serra<\/strong>, paired with Blanc Subur Malvasia de Sitges wine from the Celler de l\u2019Hospital for the price of \u20ac5 for the <em>fideu\u00e0<\/em> and \u20ac2.50 for the wine.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The CIM is enhancing the programming of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with an activity on Saturday 19 July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, on Saturday 19 July the Malvasia de Sitges Interpretation Centre (CIM) will offer a \u2018Seafaring Evening with Malvasia de Sitges\u2019, which will consist of\u00a0 guided taste of four wines accompanied by a sample of seafaring cuisine provided by the Brotherhood of Fishers of Sitges:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The traditional procession of boats for Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be held on Wednesday 16 July, along with the habanera singing and burnt rum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8510,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"categoria":[12],"class_list":["post-8512","noticia","type-noticia","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria-festes-tradicions"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.0 (Yoast SEO v28.0) -
