This year, the European Mobility Week focuses on walking, cycling, using public transport, or electric vehicles, raising awareness of the need to enjoy public spaces with less noise and pollution\u2014spaces that are safer, more accessible, and offer a better quality of life. The goal is to encourage a change in habits that fosters active mobility and allows citizens to reconnect with towns and cities in a healthy and relaxed environment.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Sitges has the 2023\u20132028 Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which sets out strategies for environmentally and socially efficient urban mobility. Among its priorities is the adaptation of public road infrastructures to ensure sustainable, accessible, and safe mobility for all users. The Plan was definitively approved by the Government of Catalonia last year and is currently in full implementation phase.<\/p>\n

Mobility in Sitges<\/strong><\/p>\n Sitges has various systems and infrastructures to promote sustainable mobility. A new bike lane section will be added to the existing network, connecting Passeig Mar\u00edtim with the Can Pei area via Avinguda Navarra. Bicycle parking spaces have also been installed near hotel areas, and there is a free secure bike parking service at Pla\u00e7a d\u2019Eduard Maristany, managed through the App Benito.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Regarding the bus network, Sitges has three urban lines that connect the entire town centre: Poble Sec \u2013 Vallpineda, Can Pei \u2013 Terramar, and La Llevantina \u2013 Quint Mar. To celebrate the European Mobility Week, on 16 and 17 September, this service will be free of charge.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Town Council has also deployed 11 charging points for electric vehicles in different areas of the municipality: 5 in Can Robert, 1 at Passeig Mar\u00edtim 8, 1 at Carrer Samuel Barrachina 8, 1 at Carrer de la Devesa, 1 at Carrer Ramon de Dalmases 10, 1 at Avinguda Cam\u00ed del Pla 5, and 1 at Passeig Mar\u00edtim de Les Botigues de Sitges 35.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As for motorcycles, parking has been expanded with 130 new spaces next to the station (for a total of 260), 15 new spaces on Avinguda d\u2019Artur Carbonell, and 40 on Passeig Mar\u00edtim. Regarding green zones, the Town Council will continue expanding resident parking by creating new green parking areas.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The council is also continuing to develop the Urban Freight Distribution (DUM) parking system, with expanded areas in 2025 at Bassa Rodona, Oasis, Carrer Espalter, and Passeig Mar\u00edtim, adding to the existing ones at Illa de Cuba, Passeig de la Ribera, Carrer Francesc Gum\u00e0, Santiago Rusi\u00f1ol, and Artur Carbonell.
