Railway service between Sitges and Gav\u00e0 will be halted from 22 to 28 September<\/strong> due to Adif\u2019s improvement project in the Castelldefels station. To minimise the impact on mobility, Renfe has coordinated with the Government of Catalonia to launch an alternative road transport plan that will guarantee connections between the affected stations during this period.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

To guarantee the mobility of travellers on the R2 South line and the Regional lines in the south corridor, 55 buses<\/strong> have been arranged to provide 41,000 places per day. Direct buses will run every 15 minutes between Sitges and Gav\u00e0<\/strong> starting at 4.50 am, coordinated with the arrival of the trains. Plus, a minibus service will be offered every 30 minutes with intermediate stops in Garraf and Platja de Castelldefels<\/strong>. The railway service from Gav\u00e0 to Barcelona<\/strong> will run as usual, as will the trains between Sitges and Sant Vicen\u00e7 de Calders. The Sitges bus stop will be located on the corner of Passeig de Vilafranca and Avinguda de les Flors.<\/strong> The Gav\u00e0 bus stop will be located on Carrer de Barcelona right after the tunnel next to the train station that connects it with the industrial area. There will be signs to indicate all stops. The first bus will leave Gav\u00e0 at 5 am, while the last bus’s departure time will depend on the last train.<\/p>\n

The last two trains in the R2 South line heading to Vilanova i la Geltr\u00fa will end their route in Gav\u00e0, where travellers can board a bus to Vilanova, with stops at all the stations in between.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Regarding the South Regional<\/strong> services, trains will continue to run between Barcelona-Estaci\u00f3 de Fran\u00e7a i Gav\u00e0<\/strong> and between Sitges and Sant Vicen\u00e7 de Calders. For longer routes, a direct bus service between Barcelona (Zona Universit\u00e0ria\/Palau Reial) and Cunit has been set up to run every 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

The forecast travel time between Sitges i Gav\u00e0 by road will be around 25 minutes, between Sitges and Castelldefels around 20 minutes and between Sitges and Barcelona-Estaci\u00f3 de Fran\u00e7a around 55 minutes. The buses leaving Barcelona will depart from Zona Universit\u00e0ria, which is a one-minute walk from the metro line 3 stop, and the incoming buses will arrive at Palau Reial, which is also a one-minute walk from this line.<\/p>\n

Local travel passes will be valid for accessing the alternative road transport, so travellers should have them handy.<\/p>\n

There will be Renfe staff, security agents and support teams hired by the company at the stations and bus stops to respond to travellers\u2019 information requests and tell them how to get between the station and the bus stops.<\/p>\n

Test trains with no passengers will run on the morning of Sunday 28 September, and the railway service is expected to resume at 2 pm once the actions are finished.<\/p>\n
