In Sitges, markets are held on Thursday and Saturday mornings. If you happen to be here on either of those days, we highly recommend visiting these open-air markets. The Thursday market, located in Can Robert, focuses mainly on clothing and home accessories, although there are also food stalls. As for the Saturday market, fruit and vegetables take centre stage at the stalls in Plaça de Catalunya. These markets are a good way to start the weekend, as well as to discover that slow food is a deep-rooted concept in Sitges.
Whether it is Thursday or Saturday, if you visit the Sitges street market, chances are you will leave with a basket full of seasonal and local products: Espigalls from the Garraf, desalted cod for preparing Xató de Sitges, essential preserves like olives and a wide variety of cured meats. And that sense of proximity goes beyond the products themselves, because here you will often meet the very people who grew, harvested or prepared them.
