The Festival Dona – Art en femení again focuses on women’s talent for its 8th edition
The Casino Prado Suburense presents a series of top-class works that aim to reach all sorts of audiences, with music, cabaret, theatre, workshops and other artistic projects.
The Festival Dona – Art en femení again focuses on women’s talent for its 8th edition. Organised by the Casino Prado Suburense and with the support of Sitges Town Council, the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona Provincial Council, the goal of the festival is to give visibility to the work and talent of women in all spheres of the performing arts. The eighth edition of the festival is being held from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 September at three venues: the Teatre Prado, the Sala d’Actes Jofre Vilà and the Jardins del Casino Prado.
On Thursday 3, at 8.30 pm, the festival will be inaugurated with the musical One Night Only, with the renowned West End star Ria Jones, a musical performer with a career spanning forty years, best known for her performances in Evita and Sunset Boulevard. Friday brings the comedy monologue “Aniquilació fallida”, by Carlota Gurt, at the Sala d’Actes Jofre Vilà at 6 pm, plus a wine and ice-cream pairing activity in the Jardins del Prado at 7.30 pm. On Saturday there’s a ceramics workshop by Lasitja Ceràmica in the Sala d’Actes Jofre Vilà at 10 am, plus an opera and zarzuela recital with Ainhoa Arteta and Luís Santana at the Teatre Prado at 8.30 pm. The festival concludes on Sunday with a free DJ session and musical aperitif by Les Pijor Impossible, in the Jardins del Prado at 12 noon, and the dance show Fars by the traditional Catalan dance group Esbart Ciutat Comtal, at the Teatre Prado at 6 pm.
In parallel to the festival acts, on Wednesday 2 September, the Sala d’Actes Jofre Vilà is hosting two complementary activities to get a first-hand experience of artistic women’s talent with the photography exhibition “Més enllà del rem… Elles”, at 6 pm, and the presentation of the book Els tres noms de la Ludka, by Gisela Pou, at 6.45 pm.
