Sant Jordi (Saint George)

Books and roses on the Mediterranean

On 23 April, the Catalan celebration of culture and love merges with the seaside beauty of Sitges, creating an unforgettable setting in which to find your perfect book and the most beautiful rose. And once you have found them, the sea and the springtime atmosphere will accompany you on the carefree stroll we recommend along the Passeig Marítim.

A truly literary seafront promenade.

The celebration of Sant Jordi (Saint George’s Day) in Sitges takes place mainly along the Passeig de la Ribera, which is transformed into a vibrant market of books and roses with the church and the beach as its backdrop. Throughout the day, the Diada (celebration day) is complemented by meetings and book signings with local authors, as well as an extensive cultural programme that includes workshops, storytelling sessions and the traditional Ballada de Sardanes (open-air performance of the traditional Catalan sardana dance).
