An egg on a jet of water that does not fall to the ground. On the contrary, it dances, propelled by the water, in a setting as magical as the fountain at the entrance to the Palau de Maricel. You can also see this natural, autonomous juggling act in the gardens of the Societat Recreativa El Retiro. Warning: it is hypnotic… I say this in case the morning slips away before you know it…

A centuries-old tradition

L’Ou com balla (The dancing egg) is part of the Corpus Christi festivity in Sitges, something documented since before 1886. The display of the dancing egg used to be a common sight in different locations along the streets carpeted with flowers, a distinctive (and truly unmissable) element of this traditional festival in Sitges. So, besides the display at the Palau de Maricel and the gardens of El Retiro, you can also see this unique tradition in the Doctor Robert gardens (in the Town Hall square) or in the courtyard of the Santiago Rusiñol library, among other places.
