The Museu de Maricel (Maricel Museum), also recognised as a museum of national interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia), is as impressive inside as it is outside. Inside, because it brings together ten centuries of art, beginning with the Gothic art and antiques collection of Doctor Jesús Pérez Rosales and culminating in Modernista paintings and sculptures by artists such as Llimona, Sunyer, Jou, Rusiñol and Casas. And outside, because the museum is housed in a Noucentista-style building overlooking the sea, creating a unique experience as the Mediterranean light casts a blue tint across some of the works. The view from the Sala del Mirador, where three Noucentista sculptures by Joan Rebull stand against the backdrop of the Mediterranean, is simply unforgettable.

An artistic journey through ten centuries

The Museu de Maricel (Maricel Museum) presents a complete artistic journey from the 10th century through to the realism and figurative art of the first half of the 20th century, passing through Romanesque and Gothic art, the Renaissance and the Baroque and, naturally, Modernisme, with works by Santiago Rusiñol, Ramon Casas, Josep Llimona and Miquel Utrillo.
