The Centre d’Estudis del Mar (CEM - Sea Studies Centre) organises morning sessions in spring and summer focused on collecting waste from various Sitges beaches. This activity, which is part of the Let’s Clean Up Europe campaign, is aimed at individuals and families who want to help remove this waste and thus contribute to the preservation of the natural environment. It is an awareness-raising initiative in which we can see first-hand the impact of waste on the beaches.

Organisation by groups and beaches

The meeting point is the CEM headquarters, where participants are assigned their collection area and the materials needed to carry out the task. In this way, groups are divided among different beaches, where for two hours they work as a team, have fun and learn together with the activists from the Custòdia Platges Garraf (Garraf Beaches Stewardship) organisation, who are in charge of coordinating this initiative. The day ends at around one in the afternoon with the sorting of waste by type and its weighing. The information collected is shared with the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (Waste Agency of Catalonia).
