A pioneering and singular center
Nature and art are two incomparable ways of awakening emotion. And when they come together, the result is a true “big bang” of endorphins. You can experience it for yourselves at Vallgrassa – Centre Experimental de les Arts, the experimental arts centre run by the Diputació de Barcelona (Provincial Government of Barcelona). Located in Begues, in the heart of Parc del Garraf and very close to Sitges, this small yet remarkable artistic space hosts between 8 and 10 temporary exhibitions each year, embracing everything from more traditional disciplines such as painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and poetry to more avant-garde forms of expression such as video art. It also features a fascinating “wall of scents”, where children’s workshops encourage boys and girls to imagine and create drawings inspired by fragrances made from extracts taken directly from Parc del Garraf itself. Poetry, music and even the Mediterranean tortoise also become creative windows through which younger visitors can discover art and nature.
